Cesc Fabregas is new Arsenal captain

Cesc Fabregas has been named as the new Arsenal captain by manager Arsene Wenger.

William Gallas's leadership skills have been questioned since his infamous sit-down sulk at St. Andrews last season, and last week's decision by the Frenchman to go public with criticisms of his team-mates prompted Arsene Wenger to drop him for Saturday's trip to Manchester City.

Fabregas also missed that match through suspension, but Wenger today revealed that the captaincy has been handed to the young Spaniard on a permanent basis.

Gallas will return to the side to play Dynamo Kiev at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
