Aston Villa lose 1-7 at Chelsea, and now might lose their manager?

UK bookmaker William Hill has slashed their odds for Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job from 66/1 way down to 7/1.

Villa were thumped 1-7 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea at the weekend to leave their bid for Champions League qualification hanging by a thread ... and punters are piling in on manager Martin O'Neill departing.

Hills spokesman Graham Sharpe said "We took a number of bets in branches not a million miles from Villa Park, with one punter asking for, but not getting, a £500 bet, followed by other requests for three figure bets," said .

Sharpe continued "As a cautionary move - we cut the odds, initially from 66/1 to 20/1 and when that didn't stop the bets, to 7/1."

Interesting, it seems to be suggested that O'Neill might jump rather than being pushed, as Hill also revealed "We have also received enquiries for O'Neill to be the next Liverpool manager."
