Australia 2-1 Serbia

Australia got a much needed win in Group D, but could not overturn a negative goal difference as the Socceroos were eliminated on goal difference from Group D behind Ghana.

Tim Cahill scored the opening goal of the match on 69 minutes, while substitute Brett Holman doubled the lead just four minutes later before Marko Pantelic pulled one back late-on for Serbia to set up a dramatic finish.

The Serbians could have gone through with another goal, but Australia held firm to claim a victory for the Asian confederation - even though both teams were eliminated.
