Brazil 3-1 Ivory Coast

Brazil progressed to the knockout stages of the World Cup with an efficient 3-1 victory against a over-matched Ivory Coast side.

Brazil played a measured possession game - mixed with a handful of moments of skill as the South Americans slowy overwhelmed Africa's best.

Luis Fabiano scored twice, the first goal a fine strike after 25 minutes, then a second goal with a hint of handball, before Elano slotted home after 62 minutes finishing off good work from Kaka.

Didier Drogba's scored a headed consolation goal in the 79th minute, but the last 10 minutes were marred by a petulant display of petty fouls and blatant acting by the Elephants.

Kaka saw yellow in the 85th minute for pushing Yaya Toure and a minute later was sent from the field when Abdelkader Keita suddenly collapsed holding his face after an innocuous collision between himself and Kaka.
